CAE 20th AGM and International Conference "Act for Culture - Act for Europe" |
|

The 20th AGM and the international Conference Act for Culture - Act for Europe will take place in Brussels on 9-11 November 2012.
Let’s ask ourselves: what we can do for the European project, in what ways can we be useful? And then: engage to do it! Join us in Brussels the 9-11 of November for an international conference gathering operators, activists and campaigners as well as leading figures of the European institutions. To work together and initiate a Europe-wide movement for culture as a necessary element of any strategy for sustainable societies. Contribute, learn, network and act – Culture Action Europe is ready to take essential steps, igniting broad civic engagement for the tasks ahead.
The conference offers a unique opportunity for those active in culture and other sectors to set up joint partnerships. The aim: to develop our capacity to foster sustainable models for lifting Europe out of its crisis.
The conference provides a starting point for stimulating debates around our common future, culture and its many roles. An opportunity to share experiences, highlighting assets and drawbacks. At the heart of the conference approach are small working groups, bringing together participants with different backgrounds, but sharing goals and passions. New collaborations can emerge. A starting point for a large-scale movement of European citizens, regardless of the sector in which they are engaged, to reclaim the destiny of the European project.
The world is changing at a fast pace and we are currently facing one of the biggest cultural crises that the modern, Western socio-economic model has ever been through. Just giving voice to the demands of the arts and culture sector will not achieve to promote societies that treasure culture.
While continuing to advocate for an improved EU Cultural Policy, cultural operators, activists and campaigners must progressively engage in all aspects of Policy for Societal Cultural Development from local to European level. Economic and social developments, education, external relations, youth, innovation, welfare and labour, environment, … all of the above include components that directly impact on our cultural life, on societal development as well as, naturally, the conditions that cultural operators work within. It is now time to foster and facilitate the establishment of a pan-European, cross-sectoral civil society movement engaged in advocating for culture as a necessary element of any strategy for sustainable societies.
If you want to engage yourself and your organisation to lift up Europe from its crisis then join us in November, REGISTER NOW. Your values, ideas and assets will bring an important added value to the change we are committed to foster! www.cultureactioneuropeconference.eu

Whether at local, regional, national or European level, cultural policies and funding have to reflect the needs of all those who enjoy and produce today’s and tomorrow’s culture. We believe that it is necessary to re-imagine public investment to contribute to developing human, cultural and social capital – Europe’s most precious assets. The concrete goals of the campaign are to increase support for cultural activities that benefit all European citizens and stimulate their enjoyment of the arts.
we are more (2010-2013) is a Europe-wide arts advocacy campaign set up by Culture Action Europe. It will use the upcoming EU political and financial negotiations for the period 2014-2020 as a timely opportunity to develop and sharpen the arguments used when advocating for arts and culture. The ultimate goal of the campaign is to contribute to a strengthened recognition of the role of arts and culture in the development of our European societies.
