ARCI Print

Introduction

ARCI is an independent association promoting cultural, social and civil participation.

Structure

Thanks to its many cultural societies (5400) and members (who are now over a million), ARCI is a huge network of democratic participation. Engaged in promoting intercultural dialogue and cultural diversity, ARCI is a member of the Anna Lindh Foundation’s network and of the Biennale of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean. The association is one of the most important cultural stakeholders in Italy. It supports policies for culture and access to culture, in cooperation with national and local institutions.

Objectives

ARCI is deeply committed to the promotion and development of associations as a factor of social cohesion. It claims civic and democratic engagement to defend peace, civil rights and the fight against all forms of exclusion and discrimination.

Activities

ARCI has more than 2,000 cultural societies where people can make music, learn to play an instrument, rehearse and stage performances, and over two hundred film clubs, which organize all kinds of film events (UCCA - Union  of Cinema Clubs of ARCI). Our committees and our cultural societies offer training and courses for those who have an artistic passion, from dance to theatre, new languages to comics. ARCI is also the source of many national and international initiatives in the field of literature, poetry and communication. In many cities, it directly manages space for artistic activities, publishes magazines and encourages associations among artists.
