After studying law and political science, finishing with a specialised diploma in state law, Philippe Fanjas (1958) was the general director for the National Orchestra of Lyon under the musical direction of Serge Baudo , and then Emmanual Krivine until 1988, he was then the director for the National Orchestra of the Ile de France.He was elected director of the French Orchestras association in 1999, working full time in this post as of 2001. His in-depth orchestral experience led him to regular involvement in international exchange with his touring functions, meeting and conferences. The international experience was deepened with the organisaton of the International Orchestra Forums organized in Paris in 2001 and 2003 and then the European Orchestras Forum held at the European Parliament buildings in Strasbourg in 2005. He is co-author of “Give your ear! White paper of the educational role of orchestras” which contributes to the impact of permanent state orchestras in raising public awareness in France and in the UK. Philippe Fanjas lectures at the University of Paris-Dauphine, Sorbonne and Saint Denis as part of the Cultural Management Master programme. He is the president of the contemporary dance company “Kelemenis”, and president of the musical creation association “le Fond des Coulisses” directed by the violoncellist Jerome Pernoo. |
