CREATIVITY, CULTURE AND EDUCATION (CCE) NEMO – THE NETWORK OF EUROPEAN MUSEUM ORGANISTIONS NEMO 20th Annual Conference, Dublin, 2-4 November Topics that will be discussed at the annual conference are the Future of Museums, the initiatives of museums dedicated to older people, and deaccessioning of objects in European museums. INTERARTS 8th Euro-American Campus for Cultural Cooperation, Cuenca, Ecuador, 28-30 November The event is organized by the Decentralised Autonomous Government of Cuenca, the Organisation of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture and the Interarts Foundation. ROBERTO CIMETTA FUND Madarat - Exchange platform, Beirut, 20 - 22 November 2012 Organised by the Cimetta Fund, funded by the European Union and supported by the Institut français and the French Ministries of Culture and Communication and Foreign and European Affairs, the Istikshaf platform aims to offer artists and cultural operators from the Arab world but also from the EU and the Balkan region the possibility to discuss the geographical reality of artistic mobility stretching from the wider Europe, to Mediterranean and Arab countries, set up networks and organise advocacy actions. CENTRE FOR MEDIA ACTIVITIES Street paper magazine Face to face On 15 September, the first edition of the street-paper magazine “Face to face” in Macedonian language was launched. The magazine is part of regional platform of activism “liceulice”. CENTRE FOR MEDIA ACTIVITIES JournArt videos The JournArt website provides video outlets covering one of the most interesting events from Macedonian culture scene. EUROPEAN UNION BAROQUE ORCHESTRA Forthcoming concerts 2012 The concert season 2012 of EUBO continues with concerts in Malta, Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg in October. EUBO’s Cultural Ambassador Showcase at the Bibliothèque Solvay in Brussels will take place on Tuesday 16 October from 6.30pm. EUROPEAN FESTIVALS ASSOCIATION (EFA) Brussels Conversations, Brussels, 16-17 November EFA joins force with the European House for Culture and partners to organise the “Brussels Conversations” to discuss the future of the European project and the citizens’ role in making it a reality. The registration deadline is 1 November. JEUNESSES MUSICALES INTERNATIONAL YAMA Award 2012, Brussels, 3 November The Young Audiences Music Award (YAMA) honors creativity and innovation in the field of musical productions for young audiences, from all corners of the world. The 2012 Awards Ceremony will be held on the 3 November in conjunction with the Big Bang Festival at the BOZAR in Brussels, where the Grand Prize and Public Prize will be awarded. JEUNESSES MUSICALES INTERNATIONAL Euro-Med Youth Music Expo, Limassol, 28 September – 1 October Limassol became a cultural melting pot where more than 200 young musicians, cultural operators and delegates from EU Member States and the Arab world got together for 4 days of workshops, performances and conferences. The Opening Ceremony was addressed by the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, Mrs. Androulla Vassiliou. EUROPEAN THEATRE CONVENTION Young Europe 2 Young Europe 2 is a pioneering repertory of multilingual plays for young Europeans has resulted from an initiative by the European Theatre Convention (ETC). BANLIEUES D'EUROPE “The Role of Culture Faced with the Rise of Nationalism in EuropeCitizens’ Resistance!”, Turin, 21, 22 & 23 November 2012 At its 19th meeting, the Banlieues d’Europe network will focus on different forms of cultural projects in Europe fighting against the rise of nationalism and against xenophobia. By an exploration of these cultural projects and the contribution of researchers, field actors, and artists, participants will highlight the problems linked with the transmission of history and memory, question new forms of resistance and activism and look at innovative intercultural practices.

CENTRE FOR FINE ARTS, BRUSSELS (BOZAR) Two exhibitions with an European dimension this summer This summer, Bozar organizes two exhibitions with a European dimension. The first one, entitled Sense of Place, will present some 160 works by 40 photographers from every Member State of the EU, focusing on the similarities and differences across Europe, both in the landscapes and in the attitude of people towards those landscapes. The second one, organized under the auspices of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, and called Mapping Cyprus, will provide both a historical part focusing on Cyprus's position as a gateway between the Byzantine East and Latin West and a modern part in which contemporary Cypriot artists address the socio-political issues of today.
CENTRE FOR FINE ARTS, BRUSSELS (BOZAR) Debate with the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz and Bozar’s Director Paul Dujardin
On 7 June, Bozar held a Press Meeting with the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, on how culture and artists could better support the European Union. At this occasion, President Schulz highlighted the importance of young people and young artists to re-strengthen the European project and reconnect it with its citizens.
RELAIS CULTURE EUROPE AMATEO - European Network for Active Participation in Cultural Activities International Research Forum on Amateur Arts, Novigrad/Cittanova, Croatia, October 2012. In October 2012, AMATEO will organize the International Research Forum on Amateur Arts that will begin work on conducting baseline research in participation levels in the amateur arts across Europe. AMATEO has 23 member organisations in 14 countries.
ELIA (EUROPEAN LEAGUE OF INSTITUTES OF THE ARTS) The 12th ELIA Biennial Conference: Art, Science and Society, Wien, 8-10 NovemberHosted by the University of Applied Arts (Die Angewandte), the Biennial will take place in the MuseumsQuartier in Wien. The early bird registration ends 30 July.
ELIA (EUROPEAN LEAGUE OF INSTITUTES OF THE ARTS) ELIA-ASIA Symposium in Seoul, South Korea, 4-6 OctoberThis October, K-Arts - Korea National University of Arts will host the ELIA-ASIA Symposium that will discuss the theme “The Role of the Arts for a Better World”. SCCA CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY ARTS – LJUBLJANA / CCP SLOVENIA Conference “Art & Public Space”, Murska Sobota, Slovenia, 27 August This August, six European Cultural Contact Points (AT, BE, HR, HU, SI, SR) will organize a regional event in Ljubljana in connection with the international festival 7th Front@ of Contemporary Dance. The conference is dedicated to the promotion of successful European transnational cooperation initiatives. It also brings the topic of “art and public space” to the fore in collaboration with UIRS - the Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia and the Flota Institute. The event will bring together experienced cultural operators from six countries that have been implementing EU Culture projects that focus on different artistic disciplines as well as research approaches in/to the public space. NEMO - THE NETWORK OF EUROPEAN MUSEUM ORGANISATIONS NEMO News 1/12 “Power of the Networks, Power to the Networks!” is out The first NEMO News issue of 2012 looks at – among other things - the role that networks play for culture in the current political field in Europe.
ETC - EUROPEAN THEATRE CONVENTION New Theatre Plays from Europe now onlineThe ETC recently launched the 10th edition of the European online catalogue “European Theatre Today” showcasing over 100 plays for the stage from 41 countries.
TRANS EUROPE HALLES Can independent culture have an impact on society?On 6th of June Moukhtar Kocache, a member of the Danish EU Presidency project Team Culture, talked in front of several members of the European Parliament and Ministers for Culture. Mr Kocache highlighted Trans Europe Halles as an example of the great importance that independent cultural centres have for society.

The Access to Culture Platform’s Working Group on Audience Participation, led by the European Festivals Association, calls for contributions to a publication entitled “The Cultural Component of Citizenship: an Inventory of Challenges” (working title).
