Project on access to finance for the cultural and creative sector

Cultuur-Ondernemen is a partner in CI-Factor, a project within the Creative Industries Alliance.  The project focuses on guarantee systems for loans to the cultural and creative sector in order to create new financing possibilities for music, theatre, visual arts and others.

 

PLATFORM FOR INTERCULTURAL EUROPE

4th Annual European Forum 5-6 June
On 5-6 June, the Platform for Intercultural Europe will hold its 4th Annual European Forum and General Assembly of the Members entitled "Participation and Citizenship: Can Cultural Institutions in Europe lead the way? Should they?". 

 

RESEO and OPERA EUROPA

European Opera Days 12-13 May

Over 80 opera companies in Europe and beyond will open their doors on 12-13 May, the weekend closest to Europe Day, inviting all citizens to discover the art of opera and what happens 'behind the scenes' during the European Opera Days.

 

RES ARTIS

Res Artis Regional Meeting 2-5 May

On 2-5 May, Res Artis will hold its third Regional Meeting in Vienna, hosted by its partner KulturKontakt. The overarching topic ‘Residencies: Gates and Bridges’ focuses on experiences in the AiR field in Central and Eastern Europe, and beyond.

On 17-19 June, Amateo will organise a conference in London focusing on community legacies from arts participation and London 2012.

TRANS EUROPE HALLES

TEH puts a spotlight on culture around the borders of Eastern Europe at TEH Meeting 73 10-13 May

On 10-13 May, TEH Meeting 73 will take place at Tabačka (Košice, Slovakia). The theme of the meeting “Overcoming Borders to Independent Cultural Development” will introduce the unique position of Košice in the crossroads of East and West. Among the highlights of the meeting are the Open Space Day and an interactive seminar with cultural actors from Slovakia, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus.


EUROPEAN FESTIVALS ASSOCIATION - EFA

Atelier for Young Festival Managers LJUBLJANA 2012: Call for Application launched

On 14-21 October, EFA will organise the fifth Atelier for Young Festival Managers as part of a training programme addressed at emerging artistic festival directors worldwide. The event will be hosted and co-organised by the Ljubljana Festival. Deadline for applications: 31 May 2012.

 

EUROPEAN NETWORK OF CULTURAL CENTRES - ENCC 

Project fair in Helsinki 14-16 June

On 14-16 June the EENC will organise a project fair in Helsinki, where partners for cooperation on the European field could meet.

 

INTERCULT 

30 artists and researchers on CORNERS Balkan Xpedition

In April the third CORNER's Xpedition set off for two weeks in an outer region of Europe, looking for inspiration and ideas for new artistic work. CORNERS is a collaboration between Intercult, POGON, Exodos, Drugo More, Umeå 2014 and City Cultural Institute (former Gdansk 2016) and is, among others, funded by the EU Cultural programme.

 

EUROPEAN THEATRE CONVENTION

ETC meetings in Miskolc (Hungary) 22-27 May

On 22-24 May, the ETC will organise the artistic education conference “Introducing European standards in artistic education” followed by the General Assembly “European Theatre Today and National Myths” from 24-27 May at the Miskolc National Theatre in Hungary. Registration is open.

 

NEMO - THE NETWORK OF EUROPEAN MUSEUM ORGANISATIONS

Annual Meeting 2012 in Dublin, Ireland 2-4 Nov

On 2-4 November, the 2012 annual meeting of NEMO will be held in Dublin at the National Gallery of Ireland, in cooperation with the Irish Museums Association. Directors and other representatives from national museum organisations, cultural stakeholders, project partners and similar bodies from all over Europe will meet to discuss topics relevant to the European museums sector and to exchange ideas and experiences.

 

NEMO - THE NETWORK OF EUROPEAN MUSEUM ORGANISATIONS

NEMO Statement on proposal of amnedments to Public Sector Information directive (2003/98/EC)

The proposal of amendments of the directive includes paragraphs that are crucial to Museums, archives and libraries. In its statement, NEMO adverts to the fact that including archives, libraries and museums in the directive is an unwanted infraction on the already problematic position of museums.

 

EUROPEAN CHORAL ASSOCIATION - EUROPA CANTAT

European Award for Choral Composers 2012 - Results

On April 16th 2012 the Jury of the European Award for Choral Composers 2012 organised by European Choral Association – Europa Cantat selected the winning compositions among the 38 compositions coming from 11 countries that were submitted to the competition. Three compositions won and two received a special mention.

Report on the Access of Young People to Culture in Ibero-America

The report is released by Interarts and the Proyecta Cultura network, with the support of the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development - AECID.

DSI SWINGING EUROPE
Release of the European Jazz Orchestra CD 2011

The CD is a recording from Turku in tour 2011, including the compositions of the two composers Jere Laukkanen and Raul Sööt. The CD is produced by the Finnish conductor Jere Laukkanen.

 

EFA - EUROPEAN FESTIVALS ASSOCIATION 
EFA kicks off Diamond Jubilee and meets Commissioner Vassiliou

In 2012, EFA celebrates its 60th anniversary under the motto “60 Years On: Festivals and the World”. On 26 January, 20 festival leaders met Culture Commissioner Vassiliou to exchange on festivals’ role in society in the future.

European Forum on Music 2012
On the 19-22 April 2012, the second European Forum on Music, entitled “Transcending Boundaries–Building Bridges” will take place in Istanbul, Turkey.
 

EJN - EUROPE JAZZ NETWORK
Europe Jazz Network's 25th anniversary programme
In 2012, EJN celebrates its 25th anniversary. The celebration events include the nomination of its 25th anniversary year ‘Presidente Onorario’: Mr Filippo Bianchi, the publication of the Europe Jazz Network’s 25th anniversary magazine, the new EJN Award For Adventurous Programming, its presence at jazzahead! (19-22 April) and its General Assembly in Bari, Puglia, Italy from 27 to 30 September 2012.

New membership category to the Creative Tourism Network
The Creative Tourism Network has opened a new membership category addressed to cultural networks and federations. 

 

HALMA NETWORK
Literature in Flux - via Mare
From 1–10 March 2012, the European Network of Literary Centers HALMA will organise literary events in Split (Croatia), Tirana (Albania) and Izmir (Turkey).


IETM – INTERNATIONAL NETWORK FOR CONTEMPORARY PERFORMING ARTS
Spring Plenary Meeting in Copenhagen
On 28-31 March 2012, IETM will focus on the concept of « Right ? ». The 4-day meeting will propose various working sessions, performances and many informal networking opportunities. The meeting is meant for IETM members in the 1st place but visitors are welcome.


MCK - INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL CENTRE IN KRAKOW
Herito No.5 – Cities for thoughts

Herito is an English-Polish quarterly on heritage, culture and the present. The 5th edition deals with cities that are still insufficiently thought through and share MCK’s impressions on new Central European cultural initiatives.

 

NRTF - NATIONAL RURAL TOURING FORUM
New Directions Showcase Event

On 15-16 June 2012, NRTF and CHINA PLATE are collaborating to produce NEW DIRECTIONS at Warwick Arts Centre. The programme will feature work from a diverse range of artists practicing across the genres of theatre, dance, music and live art. The NRTF is also seeking new international network partners to join its colleagues from Sweden, New Zealand, Canada as well as Scotland and Wales.


TRANS EUROPE HALLES
Engine Room Europe starts the year with full action
Within the framework of Engine Room Europe (2011-2014), the project Crossroads East West is currently looking for participants to cooperate in the mapping of intercultural dialogue in Europe. Other ERE initiatives running at the moment include the calls for artists by A-Team - Artists for Change and European Artists Residencies (EAR).

CCE - CREATIVITY, CULTURE AND EDUCATION
Guide of the ‘Artists In Creative Education’ project now available

CCE has completed the EU-funded Artists in Creative Education project, working with partners from the Netherlands, Sweden and Austria. The guide ‘Unlocking Children’s Creativity – A Practical Guide For Artists’ is now available.

CCE - CREATIVITY, CULTURE AND EDUCATION
Funding for Creative Partnerships in Lithuania confirmed

The Minister of Education, Gintaras Steponavicius, has confirmed €4m funding for a three year Creative Partnerships programme in schools in Lithuania for which CCE has been awarded a 2011 WISE Award by the Qatar Foundation.

Free training on Physical Cinema with Lutz Gregor, 6-12 May 2012, Milan

The workshop will take place in May 2012 within the framework of a LLP-Grundtvig Programme. It is possible to ask the National Agency responsible for Grundtvig in your country for a grant covering fee, travel and accommodation to participate in the training.

PEARLE* - the Performing arts league Europe
Article on cultural values published in the Public Service Review

On 12 October, an article written by Pearle* entitled ‘Time to nurture Europe's cultural values and encourage the performing arts sector’ was published in the Public Service Review: European Union - issue 22. The issue includes a foreword by President Barroso and contributions on questions that affect the public sector, such as the impact of the economic crisis.

EUROPEAN CHORAL ASSOCIATION – EUROPA CANTAT
Festival Europa Cantat XVIII, 27 July – 5 August 2012, Torino

The choral world will gather in Turin, at the EUROPA CANTAT festival. Fifty ateliers with different musical genres, offers for conductors and composers and training courses for young managers as well as open singing, concerts, and fringe activities will be part of the programme.

EUROPEAN CHORAL ASSOCIATION – EUROPA CANTAT
Hearts-in-Harmony in Barcelona won IMC Musical Rights Award

The Hearts-in-Harmony project in Barcelona, nominated by the European Choral Association - Europa Cantat, was one of three winners of the IMC Music Rights Awards 2011, an award given to programmes or projects that support one or more of the five musical rights enunciated by the Council.

DSI SWINGING EUROPE
International Association of Schools of Jazz preliminary meeting

During January 2012, the board of IASJ will visit DSI Swinging Europe and its local partners for the preparations of the IASJ Jazz Meeting that will be held in Denmark in June 2013.

 

MUSIQUE & SANTÉ
Music in Healthcare Seminars, May-June 2012, across Europe

Next May-June, Musique & Santé (France), Royal Northern College of Music (UK), Music Network (Ireland), and Turku University of Applied Sciences (Finland) will organize a series of seminars on Music in healthcare.

 

EFA - EUROREAN FESTIVALS ASSOCIATION
Recommendations for festival policy to the European Parliament CULT Committee

On 22 November, EFA presented a proposal for a future festival policy at EU level to the European Parliament’s Culture Committee – “Europe for Festivals – Festivals for Europe” – and called for continued support of the arts and culture sector in the next generation of European Union culture and other programmes.

EUROPEAN THEATRE CONVENTION
New Project: “Young Europe 2: Multilingual Creation and Education in Theatre”

The ETC recently launched a 2-year European artistic education project with 8 theater partners in 7 countries creating a European multilingual drama repertoire for young people, focusing on multilingual artistic education.
