SICA - Service Centre for International Cultural Activities Print

Introduction

The SICA serves as an independent information and co-ordination point for international cultural activities and was established in 1999. It distributes information on cultural funding and practical aspects of international cultural policy for organisations involved in different cultural disciplines, both within the Netherlands and abroad. As part of the SICA, the Cultural Contact Point the Netherlands (CCP) serves as the helpdesk for the EU Culture programme and other EU funding opportunities.

Aims

The SICA aims to promote and co-ordinate the exchange of information and expertise between different cultural sectors, to improve co-ordination of activities and to encourage a lively interchange of expertise and experience within the field of international culture.

Activities

In order to attain its objectives, the SICA is continually developing a wide range of activities and data carriers such as: daily expert advice by consultants, information and discussion workshops, a magazine, a website and fact sheets. Through the website, magazine and workshops the exchange of information on specific countries and themes is being stimulated.

The SICA helpdesk consultants are available to help organisations with their international activities and to answer questions about all aspects of international cultural funding and practical aspects of international cultural policy. If appropriate, organisations are referred to other Dutch cultural organisations like funds, institutes and national or regional organisations. For more in depth questions SICA offers the opportunity of consulting one of the help desk officers in person. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Cultural Contact Point in the Netherlands (CCP) encourages and assists Dutch organisations involved in the arts and heritage field, in making successful applications for the EU Culture programme. www.sica.nl/ccp

The SICA has a Foreign Visitors’ Programme that offers an opportunity for inviting cultural key figures, officials and journalists to the Netherlands to stimulate the establishment of contacts between foreign and Dutch cultural organisations. Potential guests should have a broad interest in Dutch cultural activities and/or Dutch cultural policy. It is vital that the visit also serves the interest of the Dutch cultural sector. For more information, please contact the SICA: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

The SICA publishes a Dutch (-language) quarterly magazine, SICAmag, with in-depth articles on international projects and events. It also includes a calendar of events, Buitengaats, with information on performances and exhibitions of Dutch artists abroad. In June 2008 a special international edition was published in English: From The Netherlands With Attitude.
